Manuka Green
The GIANTS are proposing to transform Manuka Oval into a world class sporting facility that attracts more elite sporting events and will bring major improvements to the player and visitor experience. This will be complemented by a mixed use precinct that offers an inviting and attractive place for people to live, work and socialise.
This would see Manuka Oval transformed into a world class sporting facility for a range of sporting codes and community uses. The upgraded venue would be complemented by an inviting mixed use precinct that integrates with Manuka Shops and the Kingston Foreshore Precinct
This proposal includes:
- Retaining visitor capacity at around 15,000 but with new permanent seats to replace poor quality temporary seating and standing areas
- Replacement of all existing roofing providing coverage to 80 per cent of seating at the oval
- Two levels of new pitch-facing corporate hospitality facilities, stimulating investment in sport in the ACT and freeing up areas for public seating presently utilised by temporary corporate tents
- Additional non-residential car parking spaces – assisting to alleviate perennial parking shortages in the Manuka shopping village
- A new grassed picnic area at the northern end of the oval
- A multi-million dollar landscape upgrade, including a new running track linking Manuka Oval to Telopea Park and the Kingston Foreshore
- An enhanced arrival experience for Manuka Oval including a new Great Southern Square linking Manuka Oval to the Manuka Shops
- New media facilities and refurbished change rooms, enabling the Manuka Oval to meet the requirements for elite sport.
