Canberra’s top 10 growth suburbs

Canberra’s median house prices continued on an upward trajectory in 2019 with nine out of the top ten suburbs recording a double-digit increase. Further to this, Canberra’s overall median house prices increased by 2.4% to $656,943 in the 2019 financial year.

Holder took out top honours with an increase of 16.4% to a median house price of $698,500. Calwell came in second – up 14.4% to $629,000 and Latham in third – up 12.2% to $595,000. Rounding out the top 10 was Theodore (+12%), Yarralumla (+11.9%), Condor (+11%), Duffy (+11%), Crace (+10.9%), Farrer (+10.2%) and Spence (+9.1%).

This is the fifth consecutive year that Canberra has remained stable with positive property growth. Experts believe that our steady economy, growing population (+1.8% CY18), influx of international students and construction boom can all be attributed to the consistent results.

Most of the suburbs which made the top 10 are located in Canberra’s outer suburbs with the exception of Yarralumla, which is highly sort after in Canberra’s inner south and the only suburb with a median over $1,000,000 to make the list.
